The annual government awards of the Nizhny Novgorod area “The Best in Sports 2012” featured 15 nominations, almost 20 winners, and about 300 sports fans of Nizhny Novgorod.

The event brought together the most distinguished sportsmen, top regional and city authorities, mass media representatives.

The prizes were awarded to the best sportsmen of the city, best coaches, sports institutions, distinguished personalities contributing to sports development in the region.

The winners in different nominations received cups, diplomas and valuable prizes. In 2014 there was the prize in memory of the honourable master of sports of the USSR, judge of the republican category Igor Polyashov “For mass participation in the regional team race”. That year over 200 awards and prizes were given.
