InformationIn contrast to the traditional Olympics, the Paralympics torch relay got its start not in Olympia: the organizers themselves defined the place and means of setting fire to the torch. In Nizhny Novgorod a unique means of photochemical synthesis fire generation was brought to the fore. The symbol of the Paralympics, lit in Nizhny Novgorod, travelled to Sochi, where the ceremony of the Paralympics torches unification took place. The relay was held in the central streets of Nizhny Novgorod: Minin and Pozharsky square and Verkhne-Volzhskaya embankment. 25 torch-holders participated in it, with some Paralympics sportsmen among them.
