 The XVI All-Russian competition of professional skills "The best tram driver" was held in Nizhny Novgorod. Thirty two drivers from 25 cities of the Russian Federation (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, Tomsk, Kazan, Yekaterinburg and other cities) took part in the competition.

For the first time in the history of the competition, the competition track was arranged in the historical center of the city, and not on the territory of a tram depot, as it usually was the case. Especially for the competitions Rozhdestvenskaya street was closed, spectators' stands were organized for everyone.

The broadcast of the contest could be watched on a special screen installed on Markin Square and on the Internet.

Within 3 days, participants competed in skills of driving a tram, traffic rules, rules of technical operation, culture of service and the acceptance of rolling stock before going on line.

The prize fund of the contest was 500,000 rubles.

All participants were presented with memorable souvenirs marked with symbols of the competition - Gorodetsky gingerbread and Khokhloma plate specially made for the contest.
